After years of delay, Apple has finally officially introduced its mixed reality glasses called Apple Vision Pro, a device that allows `seamlessly` blending the digital world with the real world.
True to many rumors before the event, this device will come with a removable battery and be controlled by eyes, hand gestures and sound.
The starting price of the device is up to 3,500 USD.
It is a mixed reality goggles – or can also be considered a mixed reality device – where users can switch between augmented reality and virtual reality modes with just the turn of a button.
Instead, you can view and access application icons in this VisionOS operating system just by looking at them.
You can touch to select or lightly tap your finger to swipe as well as give voice commands via Siri.
Control operations using hand gestures and eye contact, instead of a controller.
Below are some detailed images of the technologies inside Apple’s mixed reality glasses, many of which have appeared on many of the company’s other products.
The Vision Pro exterior is a layer of glass with an aluminum frame surrounding it, with each eye containing a total of 5 sensors, 12 cameras (cameras mounted on the sides, below, TrueDepth camera and LiDAR sensor) and a 4K screen.
Taking care of all these processing tasks is Apple’s own M2 chip, along with a new chip called R1.
Vision Pro glasses have a removable battery included.
The mask surrounding the glasses (called Light Seal by Apple) and the strap around the head (called Head Band by Apple) are lined with fabric and have a modular design.
Zeiss also creates custom optical glasses that are magnetically attached to the lenses for people who wear glasses for nearsightedness or farsightedness.
In AR mode, users can observe the real world around them while interacting with the virtual world.
Apple promises sharp image quality and 4K video transmission.
In addition, Vision Pro also creates a digital `copy` – essentially a realistic avatar – by scanning your face.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that this mixed reality device will become the thing that replaces all other display media today including phones, tablets, laptops, computer screens, TVs and even theaters
During the product introduction, Apple also talked about its cooperation with Walt Disney Studios when CEO Bob Iger promised to bring more virtual reality content in the near future.
The Vision Pro introduction explains why Apple delayed this device for so many years.
With the launch of this new product, Apple and Meta now officially become direct competitors on a new playing field: virtual reality glasses.
