James Gunn, the new president of DC Studios, has revealed the first works for the DCU.

Elseworlds is a collection of series that take place in a separate reality from the main DC universe – Photo: DC.
In fact, the Elseworlds strategy was applied in the original comic book series in 1989, which included stories outside the main reality of the DC universe.
Besides, Elseworld also serves as a test world for DC, allowing them to determine readers’ tastes.
Some famous Elseworlds stories include Kingdom Come, with a futuristic setting and revolving around a superhero team led by Superman to confront a new generation of anti-heroes;

This isn’t the first time DC has used the Elseworlds formula on screen.
During the announcement of new DCU projects, James Gunn confirmed that Elseworlds will be part of his new plan.
Gunn also said `the actors will always remain in their roles and will serve an overall story line`.
In addition, Gunn also confirmed that the remaining DCEU films, including many superheroes from the era of director Zack Snyder, will have direct links to upcoming DCU projects.
Works from DCU’s Elseworlds project

As mentioned above, all works that are not in the main DCU universe will belong to the Elseworlds project.
First of all, the cinematic universe plan for Batman played by Robert Pattinson will be merged into Elseworlds, with spin-off projects such as the TV series The Penguin, starring Colin Farrell.
In addition, the film revolving around a black version of Superman continues to be developed, with a script by Ta-Nehisi Coates, most likely Michael B. Jordan will take on the main role.
The Batman, Joker or Teen Titans Go are all classified as Elseworlds projects and are completely independent of the main universe of DCU – Photo: DC Studios.
Joker: Folie à Deux, the sequel to the blockbuster Joker (2019), released on October 4, 2024, will also be part of the Elseworlds project.
